Chicken Pictures!

Feeding time!!!

"What are you lookin' at?"

Look how big they've gotten!!!

Here an inside view of the coop from the side door

Here's the coop from the outside view facing the nesting boxes

Here are some random pictures from the birthday party! Unfortunately there aren't many of the birthday girl herself...she's almost impossible to get to look at the camera. The last pictures are of the final destruction of the Wall-E cake.

Here's Delaney supervising the construction of her Wall-E cake

Out of the Brooder and Into the Coop!

We had a busy weekend! First, we celebrated Delaney's 5th birthday with a Wall-E party. Unfortunately since the movie was a few years old, I couldn't find any Wall-E decorations. I resorted to making a 3D Wall-E cake which actually came out pretty well, If I do say so myself. There were kids running everywhere high on sugar and juice pouches (a.k.a. more sugar). Everyone had a great time and as usual, I am reminded of what a great family and bunch of friends I have! Thanks to everyone who came and a big thanks to Grandpa D for slaving over the grill!!!

In preparation for the party we also had another big change...we moved the girls (the chickens, that is) out to their new digs in the garage. Mr. D did a fabulous job building them a coop that will keep them safe and warm at night.

They're Here!!!!!

Well we picked up the 1st batch of chicks a couple weeks ago and they are growing fast!!! The first couple pictures are from when we 1st got them and the later pictures are 2 weeks later....with 6 new additions to the original 8. We had to add a chicken wire barrier to our brooder since the older girls were starting to fly out of the baby pool and free-range in our office. You can see they're getting into an to an awkward stage where they are losing their chick fuzz and getting their adult feathers. The two pictures of the little chick are from the second batch...they are our two "straight run" chicks which are kind of a crap shoot....they could be roosters or they could be hens...we're keeping our fingers crossed for 2 hens.

A Beautiful Spring Day!

Here we are....the girls, the puppies and I on a beautiful spring day. What can get any better than being home on a warm, beautiful day with my daughters, a good book, a sandbox and some bubbles!!!! I also showed Delaney how to cast today and she's rapidly getting the hang of it. I can't wait until my future fishing buddy and I get to go for real!
